Paid for Apple Developer Program
Published on October 2, 2018 by imolorhe

I have been able to pay for the Apple Developer Program for 99 EUR, and now the mac apps are signed and should have autoupdate enabled in them. Thanks for your contribution!

Hi, I'm one of the developers of OpenRocket, a free and open source model rocket design and simulation tool (see openrocket.info).  We have joined Open Collective in order to fund raise so we can sign our MacOS and Windows versions.

An issue we've encountered with MacOS is that obtaining a signing key as an organization appears to require a physical address.  We'd rather have our app signed by the project than by an individual developer, so I'm curious to know which way you're signing them, and if as an organization whether you found a way around the physical address requirement.

Thanks in advance,
Joe Pfeiffer

Hello Joe,
I sign the mac applications as an individual developer, not as an organization. I never really considered the implications of signing as an individual developer versus as an organization, since I have been working on Altair as the sole maintainer. This might become a concern when/if there are other core maintainers of the project.
