OCF Dissolution and the Path Forward
Published on March 11, 2024 by Samantha Meyer
Dear ATX Mental Health Fund Community,
On February 28th, ATX Mental Health Fund was informed by our fiscal sponsor, Open Collective Foundation, that they will be dissolving by the end of the year. Approximately 600 organizations like ours will soon be without the legal nonprofit status, fundraising support, and money management software that we have depended on in order to achieve our respective missions.
This news came as a shock. Nonetheless, we are determined to continue increasing access to mental health services in the Greater Austin area. As we decide on the best path forward – whether that is finding a new fiscal sponsor or creating our own 501(c)(3) nonprofit – we need your help.
If you have ever considered supporting ATX Mental Health Fund, now is the time. We can no longer accept donations through OCF after March 15 and must spend all our funds by September 30. Your support, be it donations, likes, spreading the word, or words of encouragement, will help us through this tough time. A special thanks to our contributors for helping us get this far.
We are grateful to each and every one of you, as well as to Open Collective Foundation, for helping us distribute over $100,000 to folks facing hardship in our community. It has been a fulfilling three-and-a-half years, with more to come.
Concerned, yet hopeful,
Samantha Meyer
