It all comes down to decisions

It all comes down to decisions

As you might already know, The More Trees Campaign (now called BEYOND TREES) is different to other tree planting organisations in one key aspect: we promote self-awareness above all. Why? According to Harvard Business Review research has shown that "the more individuals strive to understand themselves, the faster and stronger their rate of progress will be". [1] However, this is only the beginning. "Arguably the most important aspect of self-awareness is how it can benefit our decision making process". [2] The key, therefore, to saving the environment is not just planting more trees, but increasing the overall quality of our self-awareness so we do not repeat the same poor decisions that caused the environmental issues in the first place. As we explored the idea of decision-making it occurred to us: a truly self-aware person could not harm the environment they live in. Research shows their decision-making process would be different - above all, they would make more strategic & rational decisions, show higher emotional intelligence and (we would add) their results would not be short-sighted. [3] So this is our challenge in the campaign: to continue to improve our own self-awareness, make better decisions for the world and bring that message to our donor community and all the wonderful people we meet every day.
