Q3 2024 review
Published on October 24, 2024 by Mogashni

You may have noticed that there were 8 announcements  between the Q1 and Q2 reviews, and none since. Did we not do anything? We did. Our focus was on supporting existing grantees with their projects, as well as various operational activities that will bear fruit in the coming months and years.

An exciting update is that we’ve had our first board meeting. The board will have an advisory and governance role, appropriate to the foundation status of being hosted by Open Collective Europe.
The inaugural Bitcoin Design Foundation board members are:

We are excited to have three very smart and experienced board members to help guide the foundation.

November will also mark the first anniversary of the foundation. We have been reviewing how this first year worked and what we learned, and are working on our goals and strategy for year two. We are organizing a short retreat in November in order to discuss and plan. Some of the things on our minds are:
  • Making sure our grantee experience, especially the application process, is efficient and as enjoyable as it can be
  • Revising funding priorities
  • Reviewing our fundraising plan, goals and strategy
  • Budget planning
  • How we work as a team of administrators
  • New design education initiatives, for which we have seen much interest
  • The role of the foundation in the broader funding ecosystem

As some of the grantees are wrapping up their work, we are also planning to create case studies to showcase the great work they have been doing.

We will post further updates as some of these activities come to pass. Until then, you are welcome to reach out with any questions you may have.
