Black Ideas Collaborative Annual Update
Published on December 21, 2023 by Ericka Ward

2023 has been a phenomenal year for Black Ideas Collaborative! We share this end of year update with our community to express our deepest gratitude to you joining us on this journey! This year we were able to provide our very first fellowship to Yaw Mankatah Asare as he started the first year of his doctoral program in Africana Studies at Howard University - something we absolutely could not have done without you all.

We learned a lot throughout the year. We started the year incredibly ambitious about our fundraising goals and plans to host lots of events. We are a small team of volunteers who all dedicate so much energy and love to our day jobs in the social impact sector. So we learned that we needed to prioritize self and community care, move gently with our dreams and to give thanks for the little things. We give thanks for every single dollar we were able to raise, for every conversation we were able to have, for every person who blessed us with their energy and certainly giving thanks for being able to support at least 1 beautiful human being who is doing powerful work to connect the Diaspora. THAT'S A WHOLE LOTTA LOVE! And love is not quantifiable, it's beyond measure. Love is the most powerful essence that in and of itself IS the change we want to see in the world.

For 2024, we look forward to continuing to move slowly and gently as we build meaningful relationships with a community of people who are passionate about honoring mutuality, repairing relationships and fostering beloved connection amongst the African Diaspora.
