About
Bristol is a very unequal city. Bristol Redistro helps address this by supporting groups set up and led by communities most affected by inequality who are working to create a more just, equal and sustainable world. As a wealth redistribution group we aim to transfer money from those who have more than they need, to those who don’t have enough.
In 2025 we received 58 eligible applications to our Round 7 - this is nearly double the number of applications from the year before. An incredible 30 people from applicant groups and groups we've funded in the past, chose 43 groups to receive funding. Over half the groups were Global Majority and migrant led groups and the list also included groups led by disabled, neurodivergent, trans, queer and working class communities. These were spread across the city, including Easton, Knowle West, Southmead, St Paul's, Lawrence Hill and Hartcliffe. You can see who those groups are here: Round 7 groups.
On 5 November we reached our target of £42,850! These funds have been moved into a separate pot ready to pay out when the groups are ready.
Our bank balance is nearly at zero again, so we're now fundraising for our next round!
Why donate?
Donating to Redistro is a great way to offer solidarity to people most affected by our current crises. By donating to Redistro you can help build the world we all want to live in.
Most of the groups that apply have an annual income of £2,000 or less and struggle to access funds elsewhere as they are small, informal and often face discrimination when trying to apply to mainstream funders. Bristol Redistro is also a small group - we have no paid staff or offices. A small amount of money goes a long way!
Applicants and groups we've funded in the past decide which applications are funded, so decisions are made based on real knowledge of Bristol communities and what it takes to run a grassroots group. Read about groups we've funded in the past
