Raising money for Bristol groups challenging inequality of wealth and power - the groups themselves decide how funds are shared out

About

Bristol is a very unequal city. Bristol Redistro helps address this by supporting groups set up and led by communities most affected by inequality who are working to create a more just, equal and sustainable world. As a wealth redistribution group we aim to transfer money from those who have it to those who don’t. We aim to redistribute power as well as money, therefore it’s the groups themselves who decide who gets funded.

We are currently open for applications! We're excited to see what comes in this time, and we need the funds to be able to support as many groups as we can.

We currently have £10,609 to give out. Can you help us make it to £30,000?

Last year we raised £26,472 and our community panel chose to support 30 groups. Some of the projects supported include: creating safe spaces for healing from the racialised and sexualised trauma that Black and brown women face in day to day life; increasing awareness of neurodivergence and offering support to neurodivergent people; working to provide safe spaces to live for anybody from local homeless people to refugees; addressing increased transphobia in schools by providing a place outside of school where young people can access LGBTQIA+ books; bringing the local community together through food growing at a local allotment; celebrating Blackness and exploring positive images and ways of helping young people and the community build and promote a positive self-image. There's a full list on our website

Why donate?

Donating to Redistro is a great way to offer solidarity to people most affected by our current crises. By donating to Redistro you can help build the world we all want to live in.

Most of the groups that apply have an annual income of £2,000 or less and struggle to access funds elsewhere as they are small, informal and often face discrimination when trying to apply to mainstream funders. Bristol Redistro is also a small group - we have no paid staff or offices. The money goes to the groups, plus some money to the panel, for printing leaflets and meeting costs (venue hire, food, facilitation).  A small amount of money goes a long way!

Applicants and groups we've funded in the past decide who which applications are funded, so decisions are made based on real knowledge of Bristol communities and what it takes to run a grassroots group. Read about groups we've funded in the past
