Objective:
To bring together key stakeholders, experts, and organizations to collaborate on bold yet achievable plans to address the most pressing needs of Northern Gaza’s hardest-hit communities: Jabalia, Beit Lahia, and Beit Hanoun. The focus will be on discussing the provision of safe housing, clean water, accessible medical care, and sustainable livelihoods for women, with a particular emphasis on priority groups.
Agenda:
1. Welcome and Introductions (10 minutes)
- Brief introduction to the meeting’s purpose and objectives.
- Overview of the current situation in Northern Gaza, including the challenges of remoteness, logistics, and the destruction of healthcare infrastructure.
2. Context and Needs Assessment (15 minutes)
An update by Dr. Maher Ghonaim, Executive Director of Jabalia Rehabilitation Society:
- Overview of the situation on the ground in Northern Gaza
- Key challenges faced by priority groups: children with care needs (including amputees), elderly families with long-term conditions, no-breadwinner households, and families with registered orphans.
3. Guest Speaker Presentations (40 minutes)
- Hala Sabaah, Co-founder of The Sameer Project:
- Sharing experiences and lessons learned from setting up a camp in Gaza.
- Recommendations for scalable and sustainable housing solutions.
- Islam Nalajev, Co-founder of Emergency Medical Team Netherlands:
- Plans for contributing to Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure.
- Strategies for addressing the urgent medical needs of Northern Gaza.
- Stephanie Fuentes, Business Development Director, Collective Action for the Diaspora:
- Opportunities for diaspora engagement and funding.
- Approaches to sustainable livelihoods for women.
- Mohammed Mansour, Executive Director, VCS Academy CIC:
- The role of fiscal hosting and financial transparency in rebuilding efforts.
- Best practices for managing funds and resources effectively.
4. Breakout Sessions (20 minutes)
Participants will divide into smaller groups to discuss specific focus areas:
- Safe Housing for Displaced Families: Challenges and solutions.
- Access to Clean Water: Availability and sustainable approaches.
- Healthcare Delivery: Addressing immediate and long-term medical needs.
- Sustainable Livelihoods for Women: Economic empowerment and job creation.
