Dual Power 2022 is an autonomous event being organized by a loose collective of tenants, workers and activists participating in Symbiosis Federation, Autonomous Tenants Union Network, Industrial Workers of the World and independent dual power projects across the country organizing to build independent working class power throughout North America.

Recent events—the pandemic, escalating militarism, the surge of fascist and racist activity, the attacks on trans and non-binary members of our communities, to name just a few—have shown us that our movements and lives, while interconnected and growing, are largely alienated from one another. COVID has only made this worse. Achieving our goals requires action, pollination, and community. Connecting and exchanging our ideas and skills and building resilient networks are key parts of building our collective power.

At Dual Power 2022 we want to foster an atmosphere of generative co-learning, co-creativity and shared strategizing. We want to connect people and bring them together around shared work. We are organizing to create a space where ideas are exchanged, stories are told, and futures are imagined, in the context of building and fighting for dual power.

DUAL POWER 2022 needs the support of fellow workers, tenants, activists and organizers across North America to help pay for travel and logistics for participants to attend our event in Chicago on July 29, 30, 31 at the Indiana Dunes. Your support will contribute to the success of our shared vision!

Dual Power 2022 est un évent autonome qui est organisé par un collectif ample de locataires, travailleurs et activistes participant à la Fédération Symbiosis, au Réseau de Syndicats de Locataires Autonomes, aux Travailleurs Industriels du Monde (IWW) et aux projets de double puissance indépendants à travers le pays qui organisent pour construire la puissance de la classe ouvrière indépendante partout l'Amérique du Nord.

Les évents récents—la pandémie, le militarisme escalant, l'augmentation d'activité fasciste et raciste, l'attaque aux membres trans et non-binaires de nos communautés, pour n'en nommer que quelques-uns—nous ont montré que nos mouvements et vies, bien que interconnectés et en croissance, se sont aliénés de grand part. La COVID seulement a fait ça pire. Atteindre nos objectifs nécessite l'action, la pollinisation et la communauté. Expense Policy

Expenses will be covered for costs which support and progress the Dual Power 2022 event, for example and non-exhaustively:

Training and education in new facilitation techniques;
Costs associated with camping and food during the event itself;
Cost of producing print and digital materials associated with the event;
Translation services before and during the event;
Software, Hosting and SaaS/PaaS etc. charges related to the project.

Expenses should be discussed via email ([email protected]) or on the discord, and nominally approved, and normally prior to any purchases being made, before being submitted to the Collective.

You must upload a valid receipt or invoice clearly showing the total amount, date, legal address, and what the payment is for.

Current budget

$3,000 for the space
- camping ($1,500),
- shelters ($500),
- and park fees (we'll have to pay these as folks show up with cars)
$3,000 for food & supplies
$3,000 accessibility (transport, translation, formats, material). We’re hoping to cover most of this through volunteering, but having money to pay people for their often under-valued labor is nice.
Any money raised over this will go towards a general travel, camping, and solidarity fund. We’re hoping to raise money to support 200 people attending.
