No One Stays Hungry: A Love Wins Fundraiser

PROJECT

Inflation hits the Love Wins Food Pantry double-hard. The food we buy is more expensive, and more people come to us seeking support because food is less affordable. Please helps us feed our neighbors in Jackson Heights, Elmhurst and Corona.

About

Love Wins Food Pantry is at a critical moment. Although the pandemic has evolved, food insecurity in our communities persists. For two years we have provided food on a weekly basis to hundreds of families. In a typical week we provide food to 350 households in the general community and 120 trans Latina families.

Over the last two months, we have been going through important changes and challenges.  Inflation has a double impact on the pantry.  The food we buy is more expensive, and also more people come to us for assistance because groceries are less affordable.  Meanwhile, New York City cut funding to food pantries by about 40% starting July 1.  We are not the only food pantry dealing with these problems -- many have shut down completely -- but we are continuing our work.

For all of these reasons, we have to spend more money than ever before.  So we are launching a campaign to raise $25,000 so that we can remain a sustainable and reliable resource for the community.

In the last six weeks we have spent $8700 on food, and we expect to place another $2500 order next week.  Your gift will be put to immediate use to help us

Love Wins has always been a LGBTQ-led and community-based effort created to address the growing food insecurity in our neighborhoods. At this challenging moment, your support is more vital than ever.

Please share with your family, friends and networks.

In solidarity,
Love Wins Team
