Getting back in the black
Our fiscal host transition took longer than expected. Bills piled up, and we need your help to keep operating!
In late February 2024, when the Open Collective Foundation announced that they were shutting down, you all rallied together to help us do some crisis fundraising for what we thought would be a fairly short transition. We really hoped to be set back up with a new fiscal sponsor and able to keep fundraising very quickly!
Unfortunately, that wasn't how it worked out - the transition took much, much longer than we could have expected or hoped (but we're incredibly grateful to now be set up with PWGD!). Despite having no regular funding this summer, we chose to keep operating in the same way we have been - in fact, we've served more meals than we had this time last year! - but receipts have really piled up. There's no way to sugarcoat it: we now need to raise $9000 to pay off our expenses from this summer and stay in operation.
The beautiful thing is that no single person needs to cover that singlehandedly, of course. It takes many hands to prep, cook, package, and deliver the 18,000 meals we've served so far this year, and it takes many people giving to fund that operation. We believe we can do this together, the same way we've gotten this far. Whether you set up a recurring monthly contribution, make a one-time donation, or just share with your circle, it all adds up.
