2023 Update
Published on December 23, 2023 by Eva Maxfield Brown

It's the end of the year so time to post an update on what CDP was up to.

1. What did you accomplish during 2023? How did you use money?

Much of the work done this year was forming collaborations with other research and civic tech orgs. We submitted for a grant to specifically try and form a collective for all of us to work together rather than potentially duplicating effort.

We still haven't used the money within Open Collective. We are waiting for a moment where we really need to use it.

2. What challenges did you face during 2023? What did your Collective learn? How did you change or grow?

Effort has simply been slowly tailing off. Many people are taking a break from the project, myself included while we wait for to hear back from the grant application process. I think it is mostly a lot of burnout which is hard to manage.

3. What are your plans for 2024? Anything exciting coming up?

We should hear back from the grant application process which is very exciting but in addition to this we have some new collaborators trying to spin up instances in Washington. The Asheville group continues to work on CDP slowly and steadily. And we have a new research collaborator working on deploying CDP for Colorado School Boards.
