What Happened in October?
Published on October 29, 2024 by Lucie Anglade

Hello!

This month was huge, with events and releases!

October 12 was our 4-year anniversary πŸŽ‚
As each year, we published a rewind of the year about the project, sources of income and future.
We also launched a new offer: consulting packages! These packages are designed for companies for which WeasyPrint is critical, and for companies who want to sponsor WeasyPrint but can’t use OpenCollective.

Still on the events part, we went to VolcampIO and gave a talk about Open Source software and money πŸŒ‹. The video (still in French for now) has been published.

Now the releases πŸŽ‰!

Pyphen 0.17.0 has been released. This version drops support of Python 3.8, adds support for Python 3.13 and updates Hungarian dictionary πŸ‡πŸ‡Ί.

tinycss2 v1.4.0 has been released. tinycss2 now supports CSS Color Level 4 🌈.

A new Python library has also been released: tinyhtml5!
tinyhtml5 is a tiny HTML5 parser, forked from html5lib. You can read more about the reason of the fork in the documentation.

All these releases lead us to the release of… WeasyPrint v63 🎊!
WeasyPrint now supports CSS Color Level 4, page groups (thanks to the financial support of Code & Co.), submit and radio inputs for PDF forms.
This release also includes a lot of bug fixes πŸͺ²
You can learn more about this release in our blog post.

And to finish this month, we’ll be at PyConFR in Strasbourg (France) from October 31 to November 3.
This time we will be on the organisation side, so no talk this time. Don’t hesitate to come and say hi πŸ‘‹!

That’s all for this month!

Thanks for supporting us πŸ’œ
