What did we accomplish in 2023?

Hi friends,
2023 has been a whirlwind of a year. CROP LA became somewhat inactive towards the end of 2022 as the collective spent a lot of time figuring out what we wanted to do and how we wanted to go about our mission. A few of us still remain, but 2023 has been a challenge: I, Olga, am a member of the Writers' Guild so much of my year was spent focusing all of my energy on the strike. Pretty much everyone involved with CROP has been part of the entertainment industry in some capacity so you can imagine it's been an all-encompassing thing. Now that the SAG-AFTRA strike has ended and the industry is kicking back into gear, it's easier to take a step back and think about the future of this collective.
In 2023, we only made one large purchase of bike lights -- we still have some of those left and will continue distributing them. This month, we have been able to distribute bike lights to unhoused folks with the help of Palms Unhoused Mutual Aid. In 2022, we did a lot of distribution at events like Critical Mass, but after I tore my meniscus at the end of 2022 long bike rides had to go on pause for a while. I'm excited to get back to Critical Mass and similar events in the next few weeks to help hand out bike lights and talk to people about their rights once again.
While we aren't actively seeking money right now, and many members of the collective are focused on bigger projects, any donations contributed to this fund will continue to be used for purchasing bike lights in 2024 and beyond.
