In our second month of action we donated another $20 to each of the organizations! You might think that there's no way that this single bill could do as much good as the $163 that we sent to each group in our first month - but, this month that $20 translates to:
For each of the 5 individual mutual aid groups, like those in my own backyard here in Brooklyn, this $20 goes to paying for groceries for those who can't make it this month and for gathering/dispersing hard to find PPE and other needed supplies for the community!
For The Stewpot we supported 10 meals during their programming!
For Austin Pets Alive! we supported a full week of milk for a litter of KITTENS! (KITTENS!)
It's really awesome to know how far that $20 actually goes -- does it change your thoughts on what more we can do for these organizations? for your local mutual aid or other causes and groups that you're passionate about? (For those of you in NY - one way to further affect change is through participatory budgeting! Take a look to see if your Council District is voting on anything or if your friend's District is and make sure to have your vote heard in The People's Budget! and fun fact -- individuals 11 years old and up are eligible to vote!! Not in NY? Check to see if your local government has something similar - or start petitioning to have one!)
Please find the dispersal report as well as the thank you emails confirming donation to each of the organizations that have been made on your behalf via DiviDon.org on the website.
Thank you again so much for your continued support of DiviDon.org and of our neighbors in Texas!
As always, please share the site - the challenges that Texans are facing will be long term so we can continue to do a lot of good through these donations.
