Supporting those that are unhoused
Published on September 22, 2021 by Michelle Joseph

Drive by Howdy was approached by Paul and his wife to give them support. He has a terminal heart disease. Currently, we have been able to move them into a hotel room that has a kitchenette. We specifically wanted them to have that kind of room due to the fact that most of his food needs to be fresh. He can no longer just eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or Chef boy Ardee.

We've just extended their stay for two more weeks. Our hope is that an apartment will be made available to them in that time. Based on his medial needs his housing is being fast tracked. If in the next two weeks that does not happen we will extend the hotel time further.

Update on Paul and Melissa:
What has kept them from getting into housing is paperwork. As with most unhoused they need birth certificates and social security cards. Their case worker has ordered those but it will take a little while longer. They have their housing approved so as soon as those documents come through they should be able to get an apartment fast.
