‼️ URGENT: Please Donate By March 15
Published on March 1, 2024 by Alyssa
We received notice this week that our fiscal sponsor, OpenCollective Foundation, is closing by the end of the year. They have informed us that our last day to accept donations through the Foundation is March 15, which we must spend or transfer to a new sponsor by September 30.
We have not identified a new fiscal sponsor yet, so we will most likely have a gap during which we can no longer receive funds, but we still need to be able to support our neighbors.
Thanks to you all, we have been able to continue our food distribution efforts, give unhoused neighbors shelter through freezing temperatures, provide supplies and PPE during an ongoing pandemic, support asylum seekers, provide folks in crisis with bill support and medicine, and many more efforts. We’re extremely proud to have you as part of our community in doing this work.
We’re hoping to raise at least $9,000 on our OpenCollective page before March 15, which is about what we’d receive in recurring donations for 3 months. Please note, the OpenCollective fundraising tech platform is not closing, but the nonprofit foundation that provides our 501(c)(3) tax status is dissolving.
Here’s how you can help:
- If you have a recurring donation with us, that will be put on hold. Please consider making a larger one-time donation equal to 3 or more months so that we have operating expenses during this transition.
- If you have given to us in the past or planned on giving to us in the future, please donate before March 15.
- Please share with any friends or family who have been considering donating to us.
- If you have any leads on a potential 501c3 fiscal sponsor that aligns with our values, please email us at [email protected].
Thank you for your help over the years. We will share updates once we have determined how we will move forward, and we hope that you will continue as part of our community.
In solidarity,
