Fund Evelyn's Safehouse

Fund Evelyn's Safehouse is an Open Collective to raise funds to build a safe house for Evelyn so that she can continue her dangerous work rescuing and rehabilitating survivors of sorcery accusation-related violence in Papua New Guinea.

We have one bold goal - to get the balance of this open collective account to $80,000NZD by December 2025. This will allow us to secure the land and build a permanent safehouse for Evelyn to safely operate from.  

This Open Collective goes hand-in-hand with the feature documentary MARIMARI to support Evelyn in her work, and to tell her story to the world.

Open Collective is an ethical and safe platform for us to manage the funds so that they can be directly used for the safe house project. 100% of your contributions (minus the open collective fees) will be used to support this goal.

All funds raised above and beyond our $80,000NZD goal will help with the day to day operations of the safehouse work.

Connect us with partnership or funding opportunities - it's hard work making an impact documentary about a tough subject and very little support, plus running an Open Collective on the side too. If you know of any funding or support avenues, we want to hear about it!

Support our Marimari Impact Film Project - This Collective's purpose is to host funds for the New Zealand-based activities that sit alongside the distribution of the film. This includes supporting Evelyn while she is here in Aotearoa for the launch of Marimari at the NZIFF. 

Make an impact in our communities - Together with Evelyn we have created a short film called WILDFIRE. WILDFIRE is available on Vimeo and is free to watch and share. If you plan to screen it in 2024 we'd love if you can also screen the trailer for Marimari. Contact us to discuss organising additional screenings of WILDFIRE for your workplace or networks.
