About

Fund Evelyn's Safehouse is an Open Collective to raise funds to help refurbish and extend the Marimari Safehouse established in 2025 in Goroka.  Following the release of the documentary film Marimari, and with the support of the Catholic diocese in Goroka, a building was provided to act as a safe house. The building is a great start. It will help Evelyn continue her work rescuing and rehabilitating survivors of sorcery accusation-related violence in Papua New Guinea.

We successfully raised $40,000ND by December 2025. This will help to begin the refurbishment and extensions. Further contributions will support this work through to completion.

This Open Collective goes hand-in-hand with the feature documentary MARIMARI to support Evelyn in her work, and to tell her story to the world. You can now view the film here.

Open Collective is an ethical and safe platform for us to manage the funds so that they can be directly used for the safe house project. 100% of your contributions (minus the open collective fees) will be used to support this goal.

Other ways to support Evelyn and our project:

Connect us with partnership or funding opportunities - it's hard work making an impact documentary about a tough subject and very little support, plus running an Open Collective on the side too. If you know of any funding or support avenues, we want to hear about it!

Keep in touch - follow us on Facebook or Instagram and our website, we will continue to provide updates on our progress with Evelyn's work and the upcoming feature documentary.
