UPDATE: Roslindale Empty Bowls - March 27, 2022
Published on May 17, 2022 by Cheryl J. Rosenberg

Dear FAVOR Supporters,
Apologies for the delay in sending this update. The event was fantastic, and we are already starting to plan for next year!

Thank you so much for your generosity in making the 2022 Roslindale/Hyde Park Empty Bowls event such a success. We had over 300 people in attendance and raised over $8,500!

Our event was truly a collaborative event in the spirit of mutual aid -- neighbors helping neighbors to build an interdependent community of friendship.

Three food distribution programs – FAVOR: Food Access Volunteers of Roslindale, RFC: Roslindale Food Collective, and The Hyde Park Food Pop-Up – make up the Neighborhood Food Action Collaborative (NFAC). These programs operate as mutual aid networks where no conditions exist on who receives help and everyone who participates – whether volunteer, recipient, or both – is seen as equal. All involved work cooperatively to meet the needs of those within the community who face food insecurity. Unlike charities which are formed to respond to the effects of the inequities that exist within our food, housing, and health care systems, mutual aid networks seek to meet material needs while also addressing root causes. NFAC’s mission is to create solutions for a more robust, accessible, and equitable food ecosystem in Boston.

Please consider becoming part of the larger mutual aid network of NFAC by receiving food at one of our distribution sites (open to all - see locations and hours below), volunteering, and/or donating to one of NFAC’s member organizations. To donate to NFAC and our food distribution efforts, please visit the Health Leads donation page HERE and under “designation” select “Massachusetts.” If you would like to be on next year’s volunteer email list for Empty Bowls, please sign up HERE

In the interest of “paying it forward,” we encourage you to show your thanks  by patronizing and otherwise supporting the businesses who gave generously to make this event such a success. Please let them know you participated in Empty Bowls!

Thank you so much for your participation. Together, we all make our community a better, stronger, and happier place to live. We hope to see you next year!
