OCF Slow Down - Pausing New Applications Through Feb. 2024

It has been a summer of transformation at Open Collective Foundation (OCF). We have been updating our internal infrastructure and systems to accommodate the exponential growth we have experienced.
This growth has been amazing and we want to move with intentionality to serve our current and future collectives better. In order to continue to provide our services to their highest standard, we have determined that we will be slowing down.
What does this slowdown mean?
- We have decided to pause on accepting new collectives through February 2024.
- Any applications already submitted will continue to be processed as usual.
- Welcome Parties for newly approved Collectives will be paused. However, if you have any questions as a new collective, please join our monthly Community Call or schedule a call with Mike.
As always, feel free to join our slack in the #ocf channel.

Hi! When in February will you open back up? Our group has been waiting months to apply for fiscal sponsorship under this foundation and we hope to actually be able to apply in the coming weeks.

We do not plan to reopen our application process and I encourage you to pursue other options for fiscal sponsorship.

Existing marketplaces like EnergySage are brokers who sell customer data multiple times, then charge the winning installer hundreds of dollars. This adds to soft costs and limits participation. Family-owned, worker-owned or nonprofit installers rarely buy such leads.
No third-party need profit from one's transition to efficient, clean energy. This nascent, online service can be offered nationally with a small research & PR budget. (See the SF Bay Area example https://energyscope.org/installers/) Phase Two is a First Wednesday event where the public meets installers at local venues, coordinated by a volunteer network.
I'd like to become sponsored ASAP, and commence applying for corporate and foundation grants. Thank you for your attention.
