CaseWork
PROJECT
Organization: FUR/HELP
A fully encrypted open-source suite to manage humanitarian cases made for nonprofits.
About
Managing relocation support, humanitarian visa applications, or emergency aid cases shouldn’t require a PhD in IT or expose vulnerable people’s data. Yet most case management tools are either expensive, closed-source, or built for stable, high-bandwidth connections, not places with unstable or low-bandwidth Internet.
Meet CaseWork
That’s where CaseWork comes in: a fully encrypted, MIT-licensed open‑source suite for nonprofits.
Think Jira, but rebuilt for humanitarian workflows. It handles case tracking, document storage, and data transfer with end‑to‑end encryption, so sensitive information stays private from intake to closure.
But here’s where it shines for refugee camps and places with no stable connection.
CaseWork works offline as well.
Log cases in a refugee camp with no internet, and later sync changes when a low‑bandwidth connection appears.
No data loss, no frustration.
And because every nonprofit’s process is unique, you can write extensions to integrate CaseFlow into your existing tools (Slack, Signal, local databases) without vendor lock‑in.
Key Features:
🔒 Fully encrypted and secure – data stored and transferred with zero-knowledge architecture. Built for RBAC.
☁️ Self-hostable or on-premise – you can easily host your instance of CaseWork using Docker and Kubernetes, or if you want to offload the headache, you can get it hosted on our infrastructure.
🌍 Offline-first – works without internet, syncs when connection returns (low-bandwidth friendly).
🧩 Extensible – write your own plugins to fit your exact workflow. From SMS intake to NextCloud integration.
♿ WCAG compliant – accessible to all staff and beneficiaries, no matter the limits.
⚖️ 100% GDPR compliant – no vendor lock-in, full control over data, automatic flexible data retention policies.
So far CaseWork is in rough alpha stages, so we need a team to build and sustain it.

Electron, JavaScript, Swift, Postgres or other SQL, ElasticSearch, P2P sync libraries (like any-sync) – if that sounds like you, let’s talk.
