No Friendly Fire
Published on September 23, 2025 by YukiDeer
Today, we celebrate Bisexual Awareness Day and the end of Bisexual Awareness Week. Though it has existed since the ancient times and officially recognized at the end of the 19th century, bisexuality often was and is condemned and discriminated against.
Even now, bisexual people face misunderstanding of both heteronormative society and the LGBTQIA+ community itself. Such 'friendly fire' makes it difficult for bisexual people to find safe and understanding surroundings.
Today we want to remind everyone, that:
- Bisexuality is not a phase or a stepping stone — it's a complete and valid identity.
- Bisexual people are as good at maintaining log-term relationships as people of any other orientations;
- Your bisexuality is valid regardless of who you were with and who you will be with.
- Biphobia and bi-erasure are real challenges our community faces — we're here to support you and amplify your voice.
We should avoid any 'friendly fire' in order to create a solid, understanding and acceptable community for all the LGBTQIA+ people.
FUR/HELP strongly stands for advocating bisexual rights and supports cultural acceptance of the bisexual community.
