GSUS Los Angeles

General Strike Los Angeles is a local chapter of General Strike US (GSUS). We are part of a grassroots, decentralized network of regular people who know our greatest power is our labor and our right to refuse it. We are organizing anyone in LA County who wants to join the cause. This strike fund will be used to prepare for, and sustain a general strike in LA, including supporting strikers while they refuse work. In order to request or receive payment of any kind, you must create an Open Collective account.

GSUS is organizing 3.5% of the entire U.S. population (about eleven million people) toward a general strike. We invite every person and organization fighting for real change to join us. Find your local chapter, sign your strike card, and join the movement!

What will the money be used for?
Short Term Goals:

In the event that a general strike in LA does not take place, after a vote by the GSUS LA Strike Fund Committee, any remaining funds will be redistributed to other mutual aid groups within LA County. Rest assured that your contribution will go toward supporting our local community, no matter what. Fundraising Best Practices
All fundraising for our chapter must direct people to this Open Collective account. The only exception is our official Bonfire store, linked here. Anyone claiming to raise money for our chapter that does not send you to this Open Collective page is not legitimate. If our strike fund is promoted at an in-person event not hosted by us, and they are requesting cash, do not donate. We will never ask for cash at in-person events. Only events posted to our social media accounts, or events with our official logo are endorsed by us. We are a decentralized movement and therefore anyone can post the link to our strike fund, but always be cautious. Any links claiming to fund our chapter that do not bring you to this page are illegitimate and should be avoided.
