First Update and New Payout Policy
Published on February 11, 2026 by Curtis Wang
Hi contributors!
My name is Curtis Wang and I'm a Special Education Teacher/Case Manager at GWHS. I'm also on the Union Building Committee and am the admin for this fund.
First, I want to say a huge thank you to all of you for donating so quickly and generously to our strike fund. We have raised $3881.29 as of this update, which is incredible! Every person on that picket line feels that support and it really helps keep our numbers strong. Our staff get the unique privilege of walking strong on that picket line, even in the rain, because they don't have to worry as much about covering rent or paying for groceries because of a missed paycheck.
Second, the UBC has decided on a change to the payouts policy. The original one was needs-based, but short sighted in multiple areas. As a solution, we are rolling out a new payouts policy. You can read the full policy here. Key changes are:

Second, the UBC has decided on a change to the payouts policy. The original one was needs-based, but short sighted in multiple areas. As a solution, we are rolling out a new payouts policy. You can read the full policy here. Key changes are:
- Payouts will be on the same schedule as the SFUSD paycheck schedule.
- Payouts will be based on the amount of wages lost while on strike proportional to the amount of available funds at the time of disbursement.
- A weighted equity scale will be employed to address the pay gap between classified and certificated employees, with no payout exceeding the amount of wages lost. More details on this calculation can be found in the full policy.
If you are a contributor who, for any reason, disagree with this policy change, please email me and I will issue you a refund. Any questions about the policy can be directed to me, as well.
