It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later 💜

To our Hope Fridge community,

Our fiscal host Open Collective Foundation has made the difficult decision to dissolve their service. This means March 15th, 2024, is the last day Hope fridge can collect financial donations. We are currently in the process of creating our own 501(c)3, and we will update everyone once we’ve completed this goal.

Additionally, due to unforeseen circumstances, we have been informed our Neenah Hope Fridge has until May 31, 2024 to relocate. Hopefully, we can keep the fridge operating at a different residence or business in the Neenah community that is compatible with our mission statement. It can also be moved to storage if the need arises.

We are kindly asking our volunteer shoppers to please refrain from volunteer shopping for the fridge with the expectation of submitting expenses for a refund until we have relocated and reopened. This spending pause will help us to ensure we will have enough funds to cover the cost of moving, with the biggest cost being installing the electrical requirements and any landscaping needed at our new location.

We had been working on a plan for the Oshkosh Hope Fridge to return over the past several months, but that plan recently fell through, so we are back to the drawing board for that project as well.

Please extend to our team some grace and kindness - we have tried our best to help. The need keeps growing, while the challenges keep coming.

For years, we worked together to make a real and positive difference for folks. We are proud of the great work we’ve done and we hope we can continue in the future.

Hope Fridge might need to take a break for a bit. Since we started this project, members of our team have moved, had children, experienced mental health crises, job changes, physical health difficulties, and family challenges. We know Hope Fridge is needed, and we hope to return one day.

We hope for and will continue working for a world in which everyone has enough food to eat, and community fridges are no longer needed.

Thank you to everyone who has helped your community via Hope Fridge over the past 3 years. You are what has made this project meaningful, helpful, and possible.
