As we have mentioned in our announcement we are inviting all of you to participate in our Christmas Raffle where you can win some Simmarket Gift Cards, while helping us and our partners to deliver a Christmas Miracle and help the good cause of UNICEF with a donation.
Who is UNICEF, and what do they do?
UNICEF is a global humanitarian organization dedicated to promoting and safeguarding the well-being of children worldwide. Operating in over 190 countries and territories, UNICEF provides essential assistance in healthcare, nutrition, education, and child protection. The organization collaborates with governments, NGOs, and communities to address the unique needs and challenges faced by children, especially in times of crisis.
Why are we doing this?
The holiday season is about giving and joy. We want to showcase the positive impact of collaboration between open-source and freeware development teams, not just within our community but to the world at large.
We have set out an ambitious goal of reaching €10,000 and we need your help in making this happen. Here are some well needed details about what is going to happen.
About our goals:
In total we have set up 6 milestones that we would like to reach in order to make sure that we can give back to the community, and that we can also give to charity once the expenses of the prizes are deducted from your donations.
Goal 1: €500 total --> 5 random winners will receive a €10 Simmarket Gift Card Each
Goal 2: €1,000 total --> 10 random winners will receive a €25 Simmarket Gift Card Each
Goal 3: €2,500 total --> 10 random winners will receive a €50 Simmarket Gift Card Each
Goal 4: €5,000 total --> 15 random winners will receive a €50 Simmarket Gift Card Each
Goal 5: €10,000 total --> 20 random winners will receive a €50 Simmarket Gift Card Each
Christmas Miracle Goal: €100,000 --> 200 random winners will receive a €50 Simmarket Gift Card Each
Each participant will also receive a Christmas Style Horizon Simulations Livery Package for the A318, A319, A320, A321neo, and B787-9 as a separate item that they can download and use in the sim.
About the Raffle:
As you might have seen the entry to the raffle starts at €1. We wanted to make sure that we can start off at an amount that would make sense for everyone, and to make sure that we can be as inclusive with our respective communities. You can increase your individual contribution to buy more "tickets" into the raffle there's no upper limit on the individual contributions that one can make.
Important:
OpenCollective gives you the option to enter in "Incognito" mode, where none of your personal details get passed onto the Administrative team responsible for maintaining the Hues by Horizon Simulations site on the OpenCollective Platform. Please make sure that you do not use this option when entering the raffle, as in this case we do not receive your email address, or any other details of yours with which we can identify you in case you're one of the randomly selected winners.
Duration of the Raffle:
Entries to the raffle can be purchased between the 15th December 2023 and the 31st December 2023 until 23:59 UTC.At that point the campaign will come to a close so that we can tally up the contributions, and start the winner selection process. Due to the holiday season, winner selection process will not begin until the 6th January 2024.
Winner Selection Process Statement:
We at Hues by Horizon Simulations want to ensure transparency in our raffle winner selection process. Please review the details below: 1. Delayed Winner Selection: The winner selection process will commence on January 6, 2024, allowing us to navigate through the holiday season before determining the fortunate recipients. 2. Random Selection from Participants: Winners will be chosen at random from the pool of participants who have contributed to the raffle. If all relevant information, including contribution amounts, can be exported from OpenCollective, a random generator will be employed. This generator will select the initial winner by iteratively halving the number of participants until only one remains. 3. Iterative Generator Process: Following the selection of the first winner, the respective participant's data will be promptly removed from the list. The random generator will then be re-run to determine subsequent winners using the same halving method.

2. Data Storage Duration: Your personal data will be stored by Hues by Horizon Simulations for a period of up to 2 months after the event closes on December 31, 2023. This timeframe allows us sufficient time to select the winners, reach out to them, and conduct a re-draw in case of non-response.
