Because we’re missing out on many good and important things that could happen, through small contributions from many people, but don’t happen, because individually, each small contribution would make little difference, so most people don't contribute.
Things like:
- Humane and responsible technology, designed without conflict between serving end users' best interests and maximizing profits.
- Free and open source software, funded at levels that enable it to outcompete the best proprietary software.
- Environmental and democratic actions that many people could be motivated to do as part of making a difference together with many others, but aren't motivated to do on their own.
As of May 14, 2025, I if We is a prototype that is almost ready to use as an MVP (minimum viable product) that will work in conjunction with OpenCollective.com.
