We have noticed a trend of bad actors on the Fediverse using domains that end in .cf or .tk, which are TLDs that allow users to register domains without paying money. We have suspended multiple .cf domains already, and many .tk domains appear on popular blocklists that we have not yet verified ourselves.

We are going to experiment with defederating the entire .cf TLD, so that any domain ending in .cf is blocked. If this goes well, we may do the same with .tk.
