JMonkeyEngine 3.9.0-stable Released
Published on January 28, 2026 by Ryan McDonough
We’re pleased to announce the release of jMonkeyEngine 3.9.0-stable. This new version addresses a wide range of issues and includes many enhancements to the engine's rendering, audio, utilities, and much more. The result is a reliable, production-ready release that continues to support the needs of the jMonkeyEngine community. The full release notes are available on github.
Work has already begun on the next 3.10 release, with this next version expected to bring many improvements to jMEs lights and special effects. We've also begun planning for a future jME 4.0 release that is expected to add Vulkan support to our engine, however these plans are still very early, and our primary focus is on the upcoming 3.10 release.
We are also launching an experimental bounty program to reward contributors who tackle important issues or add new features. Your generous donations will be enabling this new program, and we are all very excited about the future of the engine.
As always, we extend a huge thank you to all of the financial supporters as well as the contributors who graciously contribute their time and effort to make an open-source project like jMonkeyEngine possible.
