Volunteer Update 6 April 2020
Published on April 6, 2020 by louise murray

It’s been two weeks since we pushed 11,000 leaflets through letterboxes in the Pembridge, Campden and Holland Wards. Thank you to all those that have donated their time since then helping their neighbours. You’ve fetched and carried shopping, prescriptions and some very specific grocery requests! And sometimes you’ve spent a long stretch of time on the phone to someone who needs a friendly chat.

The feedback we’ve had has been lovely. Residents have been really touched at how many of their neighbours have come forward to help them. Volunteers have also found the experience of getting in touch with a neighbour they didn’t know, and helping them out, really rewarding.

To date we have 156 volunteers registered and mapped so we can match you to the closest resident. We’ve met close to 90 requests from residents for help. We’ve had over 200 emails and more than 60 phone calls. Thanks to your responsiveness we’ve generally been able to match a volunteer to a resident within hours.

We’ve also had referrals from RBKC Social Services, local GPs and Age UK who have come to trust our processes and our volunteers. They have an enormous case load at the moment and are very grateful if they can refer to us those people who wouldn’t normally need their help.

Thank you for continuing to be so generous and kind about helping your neighbours.
