Be part of our village, raising free Black children
About
We have a goal of $3K by June 30th to support our organization in paying rent and our staff of Mammas and Caregivers!
Koku-Roko Learning Co-operative is a nonprofit resource center in Philadelphia holding space for Black and brown families engaged in liberatory education for their youth. We offer an environment where youth can embrace their creativity, be affirmed in their ancestry and supported in their learning journey. Our goal is to foster continuous learners, raising vibrant community members and future leaders. We practice Sankofa-inspired and interculturally influenced pedagogy, creating a space for play and child-led/family-encouraged learning experiences.

Founded in 2020, we are rooted in Philadelphia’s homeschool community. Initially we offered programming in our members’ home and, in 2023, we grew to a storefront on Maplewood Mall in Germantown, Philly. We partner with alternative education families and spaces to offer a 4-day in-person co-op learning program, weekly meetups, monthly field trips, curated unschooling guides, and culturally-centered workshops for families. More about our program can be found here.
We will celebrate the close of our program year and the youth's accomplishments on June 2nd with a cultural festival at Koku-Roko. More details about our event can be found here.
