About

LA Street Care & Mutual Aid is an abolitionist collective of former Street Watch LA members in Los Feliz, Echo Park, Atwater, Historic Filipinotown, Silver Lake, and Rampart Village.

We organize with unhoused and formerly unhoused neighbors for mutual aid, harm reduction, political education, know your rights initiatives, and to connect people with services. Our goals are to meet the survival needs of our neighbors living on the street, decriminalize poverty, and  end state violence against unhoused communities.

We believe universal housing is a human right. That means free and fair public housing for all, community control of housing, and the abolition of all violent and carceral systems.

Funds will go to...

The violent sweeping of encampments often means the state stealing/destroying most if not all of unhoused people's belongings. Our neighbors living on the street tell us their needs, and we do our best to meet them with items including:
  • Tents
  • Blankets and sleeping bags
  • Hygiene items (e.g., toothbrush, toothpaste, wipes, soap, shampoo, etc.)
  • First aid items & medicines
  • Pet supplies
  • Shoes
  • Bottled water
We support unhoused neighbors by assisting with expenses including:
  • Temporary shelter in motels for people experiencing domestic violence
  • Transportation
  • Parking tickets
  • Vet and medical care
None of our organizers are paid, but a small amount of funds go to supporting our mutual aid, harm reduction, and abolition work (e.g., purchasing coolers, printing instructions for fentanyl tests, etc.)
