Two volunteers collected food that would otherwise be wasted from two local restaurants who graciously offered much more than we could've distributed! The volunteers got together on a Sunday morning to decide how they would actually use the donated food to distribute. They settled on keeping things simple for the first one and making PB&Js. They serendipitously found an abandoned cart and loaded it with the sandwiches and got bottled water, and walked around downtown Chicago seeking to give as much as they could. It was a successful first go-around and they're looking to continue to build on this with consistent distributions, continuing to engage more donors, volunteers, and of course, those who could use the love!
