MARAKI is an accessibility led, Māori creative organisation based in Te Tairāwhiti,
Aotearoa New Zealand.
Founded by takatāpui creative producer Jordan Walker, MARAKI is focused on storytelling with access, equity, and kaitiakitanga at its core. MARAKI celebrates the whāriki of toi Māori across Aotearoa and how it interweaves relationships. MARAKI centres Takatāpui and Takiwātanga communities, and provides nourishing spaces for everyone to thrive. We want to build sustainable and accessible career pathways for rangatahi Māori into the national, and international arts industry. We’re here to connect and grow the creative industry on the East Coast — through communities, revitalisation of culture, centring of diverse voices, and elevation of toi Māori ki te ao.
