Cookery session -Fish pie and Fish Stew with Karen Evans

Mediterranean Fish Stew  and a first taste of the sea

Starting to realise that the more fish our group eat ...the more fish they want to eat!  On July 27th we had a lovely session with Karen where she cooked with the group a Mediterranean fish stew replete with prawns and crab meat served with crusty bread and garlic mayonnaise and a fish pie using the pouting that we had caught in sound on 15th June.  We are super lucky with our Mount Wise Marine Edibles possy in that John used to be a chef so he was a dab (see what I did there) hand at helping co-ordinate the session.   Everyone got involved and were really brilliant helpers. The fish pie was a little heavy on the leeks which was not to everyone's taste but this dish is a great way of making a small amount of fish go a long way.  You can drop the leeks and fill out the dish with sweetcorn, carrots whatever you fancy. The pouting we caught was very soft and palatable in a pie.   Big, big congratulations to Julie who tasted crab for the first time - it's ironic but Julie used to work in a factory selling crabs and has opened thousands of the little fellas but never eaten one!
