GREAT TRIP TO MARKET PLAICE IN THE PANNIER MARKET - SUPPORTING LOCAL BUSINESSES AND BUYING HEALTHY FOOD
Mackerel is a good fish to learn to filet on because it is fairly easy.  Rob giving us a masterclass.
Micheal getting his mackerel and Uncle Alan pondering what to buy.
Today was a special day!   After delivering eleven sessions over two months to our group, we gave out ten vouchers for £50 each to spend in Market Plaice.  These vouchers you use as and when you need a piece of fish, no need to spend all at once ...which is excellent.

We went down there as a group and watched a short demo of how to filet a mackerel and some of our Marine Edibles community bought fish for the freezer and for dinner.   Micheal purchased ten whopping mackerel to freeze and enjoy over the summer.  Micheal usually eats tinned mackerel so this is a bit of a treat.

Jason and I also popped over to a fishing shop in the Pannier Market to buy a filleting knife so we could practice this back at the community centre.

It's really important to build confidence in going into the fish mongers.  It's not easy for everyone to know what to buy and how to cook it.   The fellas in Market Plaice are really helpful and easy going.
