Mātou Collective

Mātou Collective is a community of open collaboration between diverse and passionate people engaged in systemic transformation. Our mission is to develop digital infrastructure projects that will bring about epistemic justice and increase well-being.

We want great digital infrastructure, institutions, services, products and tools that enable co-ordination of the social, economic and political systems that benefit us all.  We work together on practical ways to help serve and support all people and communities to achieve that. We use information technology to move governance to local contexts to achieve outcomes and hold each other to account. 

Mātou Collective is a kaupapa Māori organisation, grounded in Te Ao Māori. We are influenced by and acknowledge the inspiring efforts in Taiwan, where technologists, designers, storytellers, public servants, activists, companies and social organisations collaborated to tackle the wicked problems facing their society. We are grateful for the support of donors, backers, sponsors and the communities who vote to support our activities. We love being able to contribute to and benefit from open-source projects and decentralised communities.
