About

MeetMarket is a community built around two convictions: that the platforms we live on shouldn't surveil us, and that the infrastructure of queer life shouldn't be owned by private equity. 

The dominant queer social apps are owned by funds whose obligations are to their investors, not their users. That's why the products keep getting worse — more ads, more dark patterns, more friction in front of things that used to be free, while user data is monetized in ways people never consented to. Meetmarket exists because we think there's a different way to build this. 

What that looks like in practice: 

  • End-to-end encrypted messaging, so nobody can read what you send
  • No advertising, ever
  • No sale of user data, ever
  • Built and maintained by a small team in Berlin, accountable to a communty rather than investors

We launched in April 2026 and crossed 60,000 signups in our first month with no paid marketing. We're funding the next phase through this Open Collective, because the ownership structure determines the product. Supporters here lock in lifetime access and help keep the project independent.
