Happy new year! I hope that 2024 again may contain many happy Ooks! for you!

This update marks the first complete year of the Drum. Let me start by expressing my gratitude to all of you you've made the last year amazing! It's been a year with ups and one big down: after the growth of the first couple of months it became quieter and more settled down in the second half of the year. We had one major incident, which caused severe inconvenience to you all but also led to the admin team being extended. Please bear with me and us, as we're doing any work on the Drum in our spare time and with our spare energy (of which, to be frank, I didn't have enough in the last months of 2023).

Looking out to 2024 I wish you a lot of uninterrupted ookings, whilst we work to improve the maintainability of the drum. I'll come back with more concrete plans later after having them worked out with Iain and Ingvar.

Also, again and again many thanks to all of you who have found some spare change to donate. As you can see from the statement below your generosity means the future of the Drum is fully guaranteed for the next twelve months, whilst the domain name has been secured until 2026.

As you can see your donations (blue line) have been higher than the costs (orange line) every month of the year. With the buffer sufficient to keep the Drum running for a year, I'll donate all proceeds above that buffer to Alzheimer Research in April, as per your wish in last years survey.
