Convoca

Convoca builds open-source relational civic data infrastructure that helps communities and public institutions move from community voice to durable democratic participation. The Project addresses a persistent gap in civic life, which is that institutions collect community input at scale but cannot trace decisions back to the people who informed them, and community organizations lack shared infrastructure for tracking the relationships that constitute their capacity.

The Project has two components. The first supports systematic community listening and sensemaking. It ingests multi-modal community input, from written notes to recorded dialogue, and applies AI-supported analysis that grounds every insight in specific contributions through voice citations. A public platform returns data and decisions
to communities with full provenance, including the input that did not shape outcomes. 

The second component is a relational data model that renders the people, teams, roles, and constituency relationships that community organizations depend on, making organizing infrastructure visible to the leaders and members who build it.
