About

The Mixed Bag Players is a theatre company based in York, we create performances by and for people in recovery from or affected by addiction. This might mean a participant is in recovery from a substance or behavioural addiction, or perhaps they have a family member or friend whose addiction has impacted their life.

We also welcome participants who have struggled with or are struggling with their mental health. Our participants might have had support from institutions, or experiencing being unhoused.

After a successful show at Theatre 41 last year, we're moving onto our next project - Dreamer in the World of Moon!

We believe that our participants have a unique and powerful ability to create art and performance. We believe in the power of theatre to bring together participants from diverse walks of life, to support each other and enrich our lives.

The Mixed Bag Players values lived experience, and is run by people who have the same experiences as our participants.
