INTRODUCTION:
Munansi Green Initiative is a youth led non-partisan, non-sectarian, non-tribalistic, non-racial and non-discriminatory Civil Society Organization that grew out of the need to promote the protection of access to clean environment as prerequisite for the full enjoyment of human rights and sustainable development, promote environmental conservation and mitigation of the impact of climate change through community sensitization and empowerment, restoration of and protection of endangered ecosystems as well as the protection of wildlife and other biodiversity and inspiring a generation of community leaders and environmental rights defenders who are pro environmental conservation and protection. It is a community-based organization dedicated to improvement of livelihoods, raising literacy levels, access to basic services like education, safe domestic water, and sanitation and hygiene education to the region’s poorest people. The guiding principles of Munansi Green Initiative services is community- based management of livelihoods, working in collaboration with other actors in emergency and development, promotion of use of appropriate low-cost technologies to increase food production to ensure food security and environmental sustainability, and access to safe drinking water and sanitation. The Munansi Green Initiative services is developed in response to changes in Mubende and Uganda’s eco-socio-economic development, and the need to build resilient and sustainability ecosystems and livelihoods among the communities of Mubende.

We create sustainable and resilient communities by advancing nature-based solutions that address social, economic, and environmental challenges. Rooted in local action with global relevance — Local Solutions to Global Problems — we empower communities to respond to climate change, biodiversity loss, and livelihood insecurity through approaches that work with nature, not against it.
LEGAL STATUS:
Munansi Green Initiative is currently registered in Mubende District where its Head Office is located under the NGO Registration Regulations of 2016 of the Republic of Uganda within accordance with the registration requirements for NGOs and is mandated to undertake development activities in relation to the achievements of its laid down objectives and the District Development. Munansi Green Initiative vision is to serve the districts of the whole of Central region and Uganda in general. It’s well known and focusing mainly in promoting observance of environmental rights, building resilient ecosystems and livelihoods of the people of Mubende .

Founding pillars and principles:
The organization shall uphold principle of good governance, transparency, democracy and accountability.
The organization shall be non-partisan, and non-discriminatory on account of race, religion, political affiliation, gender, ethnic grouping among others in all its activities and shall not permit coercion of any form in its activities.
Gender equality will be considered as an integral part of all policies and structure of the organization representation in all institutional decision making and operational processes.
The organization shall involve young people in the design, implementation, provision, and evaluation of programmes and services of the organization and shall ensure that they have real decision making power.

- Sustainable apiculture and beekeeping, including apiary establishment, pollinator conservation, and value-added bee products
- Kitchen gardens to enhance household nutrition, food security, and climate-resilient diets
