Gaza Winter Tents Campaign
Published on October 8, 2026 by Matt Davis

Alongside Gaza Champions and Zaitona Community Kitchen in Gaza, we are launching an urgent fundraising campaign that I hope you can share and help us with - Winter Tents Fundraiser.

After 3 years of war, the situation in Gaza continues to be dire. The so-called ceasefire has not stopped Israel’s genocidal bombing campaign, and our friends on the ground in Gaza tell us that the attacks are increasing lately. Many civilians casualties have been reported - over 10 people were killed in 48 hours last week.

Despite this, Gaza has massively fallen out of the news cycle. This winter, Gazans will face the same harsh conditions they have faced in 2024 and 2025, yet we are not seeing the headlines we saw a year ago - nor the aid funding that comes with it.

In fact, some of the conditions have gotten much worse - it has already been a very wet winter, just a week into October and to make matters worse Israel have placed heavy restrictions on the entry of crucial materials needed for basic shelter - according to a recent NRC report:

Currently, Israeli authorities allow just 15 trucks carrying items they designate as “dual-use” to enter Gaza from Jordan each week, across all humanitarian sectors. These items, which include tents and tarpaulins, can only be offloaded at Kerem Shalom – the only open crossing for aid – one day per week.
A minimum of 500 truckloads of Israeli-designated dual-use shelter items are in the pipeline. At the current pace, under the best possible conditions, it would take more than seven months to bring in these materials.

Many families are without a home, and have been living in tents for over 2 years. These tents are simply not suitable for winter - they are old and weathered, or were never fully waterproof. Combined with the ongoing Israeli attacks, more people have little option but to live in semi-destroyed, extremely dangerous buildings. Our friends in Gaza have witnessed damaged buildings collapse onto people living inside.

The need for waterproof tents to avoid tragedies is great, and is only going to increase in winter and the onset of the rainy season.

The price of a waterproof tent is simply impossible for families who have been living under genocide and ethnic cleansing for 3 years. The current cost is around 1900 ILS or about $650 USD. Along with the tents families need to purchase tarpaulin, at around 230 ILS or $80 USD.

While there is a desperate need for thousands of families in Gaza, our friends at Zaitona aim to support 20 families, giving us a modest initial target of $15000 USD.

We believe that with your help we can  achieve and blast past this target.

Please donate and share this campaign with you friends, families, and networks.

Any contribution you make will help assure that a family in Gaza can sleep at night, without having to worry about water destroying their home and belongings, or making their family sick through the harsh winter months.

Love & Solidarity
