About

Attention - we have moved to a new fundraiser here: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/gaza-champions

We are hosted there by a 501c which means American contributors can get tax relief on any donations, allowing people to donate more for less.

Please donate to this campaign on Zeffy.

Zitona is a donations based community kitchen providing food and meals for Palestinians in Gaza.

The initiative is led on the ground by Palestinians in Gaza and is being supported by Gaza Champions, a global community built in solidarity with Palestine, founded by friends of the ground team in Gaza.

Your money will go directly to the team on the ground, providing meals to thousands of displaced Palestinians in Khan Younis, in the South of Gaza. Economies of scale means we are able to provide a meal for around $3 per person at the current cost of food and fuel.

Our story

Throughout the past 2 years, the team in Gaza have been leading many community mutual aid services in the tiny amount of free time they have had while surviving the genocide.

These have included food, medicine & shelter distribution, helping people with transport costs when forced to evacuate their homes, and a massive effort to supply bakeries with wood for their ovens so they could supply their community with bread.

All of this has been done on a mutual aid basis, with money raised through individual donations and all of it going directly to providing these services.

With the evacuation of Gaza City, it means hundreds of thousands of people are now crammed into cities in the south, many many more than can really cope. Earlier in the war there were many community kitchens but a lot of them were destroyed by IDF raids. With Khan Younis currently seen as a safe area with many families moving in, there is a desperate need for new community kitchens to open.

It was with all this in mind that the team in Gaza determined to find a place and open a kitchen. Within days they found a suitable area and have already begun providing meals to the community surrounding them, which is thousands of people, in tents and apartments crowded with large families.

While they have the basics tools and have been able to start serving meals, we need money for ongoing supplies and to scale the initiative:

Current food prices (September 2025):

•  The cost for the large pan of rice that will feed 250 individual is 2500NIS/$800
•  So if we are able to cook in bulk, it costs around $3 per person for a meal

This will include 2 workers who will be paid on a daily basis. This will help them help their families.

Additional costs:

We also need money for upgrading and maintaining the kitchen, including:

•  Plumbing supplies & installation - 2000 NIS
•  Tarpaulins and other equipment to prepare for winter - 3500 NIS
•  More cooking equipments including different size of pots,  stoves etc) 5000-6000 NIS
•  A new floor in the kitchen - cost is not clear for this
