June Wrap-up: Upcoming events & more!
Published on July 1, 2022 by Alaya Carr

Dear all,

As always, thanks for your continued support and solidarity with Mutual Aid Books. We can’t do this work without you!

TL;DR: This month we tabled at Taking Black Pride again, collaborated with COVID19 Mutual Aid/South King County Mutual Aid for their monthly food pantry, Pipsqueak Gallery, and met the amazing folks from SpringUp! We will have a new member orientation on July 12th at 7 PM Pacific time. Please send us an email if you are interested in joining (you can scroll for our email address).

Here in the US, June is Pride month and Caribbean Heritage Month.
This June, we also want to acknowledge the work of abortion providers and reproductive justice organizers. We know that the Supreme Court decision ruling in regards Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization comes with both immediate and long-term concerns. It might have even activated feelings of hopelessness and despair. Let the words of the abolitionist organizer and author Mariame Kaba be a reminder, "Let this radicalize you rather than lead you to despair."
You can support independent abortion clinics (and more!) at this link: https://bit.ly/RoeWYCD

This month, we tabled at TBP -- aka Taking Black Pride (we love y'all! Support them here: https://linktr.ee/takingblackpride) and supported our friends/comrades monthly food pantry. We also provided a book drop-off to our friends at Pipsqueak (an all-ages gallery and organizing space) focusing on queer abolitionist texts, which were distributed during Pride Week.

Multiple members of Mutual Aid Books are participating in a transformative justice course offered by Spring Up. By wonderful happenstance, some Spring Up members were in Seattle for the Detention Watch Network Conference. They visited our table at Taking Black Pride and brought some of their beautiful zines. We hope to continue to offer Spring Up zines and goodies at our tables. You can learn more about Spring Up here: https://www.timetospringup.org/

We are noticing an even longer delivery time from wholesalers. If you are interested in us tabling at an event or receiving books for your book club/study group, send us your requests at least 2 weeks in advance. Ideally, please reach out to us with any requests a month or two in advance. If there are any books that you would love to see at our pop-ups this summer, feel free to send us your suggestions via email at seamutualaidbooks (at) gmail
