About

Lenn Cox met Wiedjai Dihal while doing fieldwork through Spangen (a neighbourhood in Rotterdam, the Netherlands) at the invitation of artist collective De Onkruidenier for the project ‘Grassroots’ at former communal bathhouse, now space for art and culture; A Tale of A Tub. Local resident Wiedjai shared during one of the activities about ‘Mantelzorg voor Moedership Aarde’. (Informal Care for Mothership Earth) With this text, he responds to our behavior towards nature, in which we often “parasitize our natural resources instead of collaborating with the abundance that Mother Nature offers us in symbiosis.” Lenn got intrigued and ended up in an elaborate conversation with Wiedjai that is still ongoing. Wiedjai and Lenn made this collective to include more voices and perspectives during a Transfer Resort workshop afternoon on January 21st 2023 at A Tale of A Tub. They exchanged with the participants, through transfer printing of images and text and the processing of textiles, what care and community mean to each of us and looked for where these meanings can come together.

Lenn and Wiedjai experiment with a series of clothing items. Emerging from the joy of making and a wish to further publish the pluriform conversations. The aim is that part of the earnings can stream through to Wiedjai's long-term plan to wilder family land in Suriname and open it up for educational purposes. The other part will flow through to Lenn's Transfer Resort studio in order to continue this collaboration with Wiedjai and develop more collaborations.

Transfer Resort is Lenn Cox's physical and collective wandering studio, a space to retreat.
〰️Transfer Resort is all about transferring; as a method, space and tool for exploring solidarity economies. Through experimenting with clothes, textiles and techniques, dialogues and the transferring of ecosystems and resources.
〰️Transfer Resort's key tools are navigation cards and the transfer press also known as heat press by fashion workers in the DIY˜DIT textile- and garment industries.
