About
Wake Boxes are care kits sent directly to people living with narcolepsy in Aotearoa. Inside each one you’ll find a mix of practical tools, gentle encouragement, and small reminders that rest is not a weakness—it’s wisdom. They cost $30 to get in the hands of newly diagnosed folks and $11 to get into the hands of those with an existing diagnosis of narcolepsy.
Every Wake Box includes:
- A Napish Accessibility Card (to explain needs like safe rest, naps, or sudden sleep in public spaces.) This is included free of charge for newly diagnosed people, and a charge of no more than $20 for existing (more than 12 months) diagnosis.
- A printed Toolkit with bite-sized guides for self-advocacy, whānau support, and navigating workplaces, education, and health systems. Free of charge for anyone with a diagnosis of narcolepsy.
- Origami kits with pre-cut paper and gentle instructions—an invitation to slow down, fold something with care, and remember that small adaptations can create surprising adaptation. It’s a quiet reminder that life with narcolepsy can still take shape—just differently, and sometimes more creatively.
- Extra bits and pieces we have on hand at the time if they support adaptations.
These are not medical kits. They are validation kits. Permission kits. You’re-not-alone kits. A starting point for people with narcolepsy to feel less like a walking yawn emoji and more like someone who deserves access, rest, and connection.
