Nov 1, 2021 Natives in Tech Executive Update
Published on November 2, 2021 by Andrea Delgado-Olson

Michüksüs!

First and foremost, I would like to thank everyone for their generosity with their contributions to Natives in Tech through our Open Collective platform! Also, I would like to thank you for the compensation for the work that I have been doing. It has been my honor and pleasure.

As we enter into November, I would like to acknowledge the beginning of Native American Heritage Month by saying we have always been innovators, builders, technologists, and scientists and this month shines an ally's light of recognition for our accomplishments. For us, every month is Native American, American Indian, Alaska Native, First Nation, Indigenous Heritage Month because we celebrate with one another year round. Thank you for the community, support, encouragement, and collaboration you all offer. You all are the reason this work is so rewarding and fulfilling. Continue to innovate, support one another, and grow this community by inviting other Native Technologists to our space.

Over the past four months I have had the pleasure of learning the details of the growth, development, impact, and accomplishments of Natives in Tech as a collective of technologists, a supportive community, and as an organization. The first 30 days of joining the organization I spent a lot of time meeting one-on-one with the board of directors and prospective partner organizations where our NiT members work who wish to support our work and engage with us. I was able to take that data and start to form an outline of the most important and urgent programs and initiatives that would benefit our membership. These programs are in the development phase and I hope to be funded for them in the near future.

I would like to share with you some key aspects of the work I have done over these past months. I have been working on our organizational documentation, strategic planning and goals, program development, partner engagement, speaking engagements, conference planning and implementation, and researching/applying to grants and other funding opportunities.

I look forward to working with all of the partner organizations who have reached out, or accepted an invitation, to work together. Together we will do amazing things and support the needs of this growing community and organization. I look forward to launching some of these programs early next year.

Stay informed and up to date with our progress by following us on social media @nativesintech.
