In 2025, thousands of public health employees across the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) were abruptly fired. In response to the dismantling of our nation's health systems, The National Public Health Coalition (NPHC) was founded. We are a network of former HHS staff and allies standing together to demand public health as a vital government service. We are speaking out not just for ourselves, but for the future of public service and the protection of public health. The system we had wasn't perfect; the system we have now is unacceptable. Now is the time to build to a public health system that works for everyone.
