4.0 Key Highlights
1. The school has allowed the teachers to give time to the pupils to have practice groups within the school, this has enabled the pupils learn more and integrate NVC as a way of their life.
2. All the school departments were represented in the training and most of them attended the 5 days training.
3. Connection and empathic communication have been enhanced within the school and the staff.
4. The staff have been equipped with skills, skills around managing conflicts and expressing needs without judgment or blame.
5. The participants have expressed that the training has supported them in self discovery and have supported them when it comes to deal with other people both in and out of school. It has enhanced their communication skills.
5.0 Challenges
1. The season is a hot season and so the training was a challenge to happen indoors we had to do it out door, sometimes becoming a challenge because of the winds.
2. The pupils were trained for only two days and I realised they were wishing for more days.
3. The tea breaks and lunch breaks would take more time than allocated as most of the time the kitchen department will not have prepared everything by the time we were breaking.
6.0 Recommendations
1. The pupils training to be conducted for 5 days so that they can be able to have more chance and opportunities to learn.
2. To prepare manuals in future trainings so that the participants can have something to go home with for referrals while alone.
3. Involve more teachers from the surrounding and neighbouring schools so that they can be trained and eventually have a neighbourhood of schools that have NVC consciousnesses.
7.0 Conclusion
The training was generally productive and impactful to the school teaching and teaching staff. During this training the leaders who had a conflict with purchasing department were able to have a restorative circle and came up with common agreements on how they would work together harmoniously moving forward.
The training met needs are connection, collaboration, mutual understanding, fun, creative learning and growth amongst others.
