Update from the Birds: October OSS Progress
Published on November 15, 2024 by Sondra Eby

Here's what the Birds did in October. Thanks for your continued support and helping to spread the word!

from James Stuckey Weber
I helped fix a Color.js tool that’s being used to evaluate gamut mapping algorithms.

from Jonny Gerig Meyer
In October we released a new version of the CSS Anchor Position polyfill which (in addition to a number of bugfixes) allows users to specify which styles should be polyfilled instead of automatically polyfilling every style on a page.

from Miriam Suzanne
I opened several proposals for Interop 2025, related to field sizing and container queries. There’s slow but promising movement on both custom mixins/functions, and the built-in `progress()` function. There has been a lot of active discussion around the final `@scope` details. Maybe the most dramatic – we seem to be converging on a solution for cascade layers that override unlayered styles.
